What. A. Weekend!
Adorable flower girls, a dazzling gown, and a speech that made me cry?! This, my friends, is what a fabulous Milwaukee wedding looks like...
Before I jump into all the details, I have to give my husband, the biggest THANK YOU ever! This man willingly joined me as my second shooter/ bag carrier/ life saver for this weekend's festivities, after I discovered that he is in fact quite the photographer himself (who knew?!). He's my best friend and favorite person. I love him dearly, and definitely have to credit him with some amazing shots from this weekend (like the *LAST* photo on this post... )
We hopped into the photo booth on our way out of the reception. I'm all for professional photos, but having one of these at your reception for those post-photographer hours is a MUST.
Alright, back to the wedding:
We started off at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel for the "getting ready" photos. The bride's hair and makeup was simply flawless. I'd highly recommend J.R. Krivanek Makeup & Design ; her attention to detail and color were spot on!
Check out that hair! Though I'm always partial to anything that glitters and sparkles!
Amanda and Andrew included their children, Bella & Lincoln (I *LOVE* that name!), along with their niece, Chloe, in their wedding. These kiddos were absolutely adorable in their wedding outfits! Lincoln was such a handsome little man, and the girls? SO sweet! Their fun & flowing dresses were one of my favorites, and can be found at Light In The Box . We really have to give credit to these three. Weddings can be tiring, and somewhat "boring" when you're a toddler. These three handled it like pros, and even busted out a few dance moves later in the night!
Amanda's entire look was both dreamy and fierce. She reminded me of an old school, glamorous, classic movie star. Simply stunning!
Her bridesmaid's dresses were lovely as well, in shades of green and orange - so fitting for this time of year!
We made a few stops in and around the hotel to snag a few shots of the bridal party before setting up our "First Look" shots. The weather was perfect, but major sunlight = major squinting, so we opted for a funky, shaded alleyway, which really made our couple "pop" against the simple background.
The ceremony and reception site was just a short walk from the hotel (the perks of a downtown wedding, right?!), which gave us ample time to get from one location to another. Always give yourself plenty of time for photos like Amanda & Andrew, friends. You never want to be rushing in heels!
The ceremony was held along the Milwaukee Riverwalk at Surg On The Water , owned by SURG Restaurant group (if you haven't been yet, check out HOM Woodfired Grill at Bayshore - AHHHmazing!). Their short & sweet ceremony wasn't without a bit of excitement though, as a random jogger made their way down the aisle, as well as a gentleman taking a stroll, before things got started.
The reception hall was decorated with seasonal flowers & succulents, lanterns, and, my favorite, a custom candy bar! The bride and groom went with a plated dinner, something I will definitely recommend to others from here on out; no clunking plates and silverware, no standing in line... so much more enjoyable! Dinner was capped off with a delicious Door County Cherry & pistachio cheesecake.
I might've eaten a bite or 4 off Nick's as well. SO GOOD!
Toasts were made by both the Best Man and Maid of Honor, and yes, I definitely cried. Amanda's MOH, Amanda (not to be confused with the OTHER bridesmaid, Amanda!), gave such an honest, heartfelt dialogue about her friendship with the bride. It was beautiful, and that all I'll say about it before I get emotional again...
Now, for the rest of the reception: these guests certainly knew how to party! The Bride and Groom were so sweet during their first dance, and afterwards, the floor was mostly packed with family and friends having a great time. When it wasn't, there was always a flower girl or two twirling around, teaching us new moves!
Now, for my favorite part of the evening...
All the guests were ushered out onto the riverwalk, and were given giant, 5 minute long sparklers. Non-stop cheering, clapping, and laughter, along with a prompt or two to "KISS HER!" made the end of the night absolutely perfect.
Amanda & Andrew, we wish you nothing but a lifetime of happiness and love. Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your amazing, special day!
