2017 must be the Year of the Baby. Seriously. Everyone in my personal life or in the public eye (looking at you, Queen Bey!) seems to be bringing new life into the world... and I LOVE it! I love seeing the transition a couple goes through when they become parents. It's beautiful and magical and amazing, all at once.
Jessie is my cousin, and one of my first best friends in life. She and Nick were married in June of 2013 in what was honestly the most fun, family friendly wedding I've ever been a part of! I knew they'd be great parents one day... cue Evelyn!
This little princess was born on February 11th, weighing 7lbs 5oz, 20 & 1/2 inches long. She certainly made a grand entrance for herself: after being induced and going through 21 hours of labor (I'm feeling tired just thinking about that!), she needed to be delivered via c section. She has an adorable head of hair, and the most delicate little features.
We decided on an in-home session for Evelyn, which are wonderful for newborns. You have all the comforts of home *right* there, and don't have to worry about backup outfits if baby spits up/etc.
Jessie and Nick, like many couples, struggled with fertility. 14 months is a long time to be hoping and praying for a baby. It's not a struggle I've dealt with myself, and can only imagine the heartache of waiting and trying and waiting again. This little girl was definitely a long-awaited blessing!
During their session, I asked if there were any special items they'd like to include in the photos, which is when this teddy bear made an appearance. Nick's dad passed away 12 years ago from cancer. His step-mom Jane had this teddy bear made from one of his dad's sweatshirts. While I never met this man personally, I so wish I could thank him for all that he's done. He made it possible for my cousin to not only find and marry the love of her life, but also bring this beautiful little one into the world.
Congratulations Jessie & Nick! She's simply gorgeous!
PS - As if these two weren't awesome enough people already, Nick is taking the plunge next week to raise money for Special Olympics and needs your help! Please consider donating to this great cause! I KNOW you can go a day without that $5 coffee concoction to help out a great organization, so donate HERE <3
OK, ONE MORE, because who doesn't love diamonds and tutus?!?!
